Tell us a bit about yourself, please.?

A true believer that life is never perfectly balanced. I’m as passionate about planks as I am about crunchy peanut butter. I am who I am and I’m not pretending to be a PERFECT human being. I have flaws and I try to be HONEST about them. I’m a strong believer in loving people for exactly how they are. I’m driven by the excitement of watching people transform into the greatest and truest version of themselves. Ballerina from a bub to my teens. I love nothing more than visiting new destinations and experiencing new cultures. I’m happiest when I’m near water, riding my bike in Byron Bay or walking the streets of my favourite city, New York. I started my career in public relations, events and marketing but after my side squeeze took off I haven’t looked back. I gravitate towards humans who make me laugh.

What is your favourite class to attend?

Stretch all the way. Stretch and guided relaxation is seriously underrated. An hour a day does wonders to the soul. You feel like you have listened to your body and you have so much energy to offer the world.

Favourite class to teach?

Barre Mat Mind – I love lifting people’s energy then settling the energy back down. Everyone leaves the class in an amazing head space. The class is a very well considered, from the music to the movement and then the meaningful mantra at the end. I love everything about this class. I leave feeling so uplifted.

What do you love most about what you do?

I absolutely love connecting with people, on any level. From a simple smile in class, to a laugh about a mutual love or a 20 minute in depth conversation about life's little challenges we all receive.

Best tip for new comers?

Don’t take yourself so seriously – as long as you are moving you got this.

What makes you happy?

Sunshine on my skin, laying on a picnic rug with my favourite people.

Song you know all of the lyrics to?

Claire de lune – flight facilities – this song has reminded me of so many tough times in my life and how I pushed through. Good reminder for me mentally that everything is temporary and the vocals are incredible.

@atticuspoetry great inspiration and deep. I adore everything about it.

Tomato sauce in the cupboard or in the fridge?

Not in my fridge – I’m more of a special sauce kinda gal – homemade tomato relish mixed with jap mayo! YUM!

What are you proud of?

I’m extremely proud of my team and everything we have gone through to get is to this point. I absolutely wouldn’t have been able to create SoBa without their support emotionally and physically. In the last 12 months they have been there for me on this crazy roller-coaster ride called LIFE. The team is my rock.

SAMMY
Tell us a bit about yourself, please.?

I was a ballet bub, which developed into a passion for fitness and movement. I trained for four years fulltime at The Australian Ballet School in Melbourne before deciding to embark on a new challenge; studying Journalism and Psychology at UQ. I love meeting new people, and listening to their stories.

feeling as though I’m making a difference and making an impact on people’s lives – helping them reach goals and work towards a happier and healthier lifestyle. I also love the groans that I receive from everyone when I tell them to lower their squats, or  surprise them with another set.

Best tip for new comers?

Enjoy yourself and don’t take it too seriously. It doesn’t matter if you’re not doing it perfectly, as long as you're moving and having fun!

Tomato sauce in the cupboard or in the fridge?

Cupboard before you open, fridge after… Is that right?

What are you proud of?

it's a little left field, but I’m proud of my transition from full time ballet training at the Australian Ballet School to my ‘normal’ life. It was a complete identity change for me and I’m still working it out, but I’m so glad I made the decision.

GABI
Tell us a bit about yourself, please.?

I’m an open, honest and no BS kind of person. Be blatant, be kind, bring me snacks and I will love you.

What is your favourite class to attend?

Saturday morning Classic/Cardio/Stretch. It’s a challenge for me physically, calming for me mentally, fun for me socially, and breakfast always follows. There’s just a different, special vibe in the room on a Saturday.

Favourite class to teach?

I love teaching the cardio classes – getting everyone amped up and moving for their day. The sighs of exhaustion after an exercise is the most satisfying sound.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love being a part of everyone’s life – even in the smallest way. The community are my people and I’m genuinely so happy to see them everyday. (Oh, and making those booty’s burn).

Best tip for new comers?

It’s okay to feel clunky. Keep coming, keep trying. The classes won’t get easier, you will just get smoother and feel better with each.

What makes you happy?

The sun, moving, being productive, friends, creating art and cute phone calls with my mum (this can also be the answer to ‘what annoys you the most’).

Song you know all of the lyrics to?

I am unashamedly proud of being able to rap Lupe Fiasco’s, ‘The Show Goes On’. There may or may not be a video of me performing this in my friend’s living room at 4am. Just maybe.

What are you proud of?

I’m proud of my decision to leave university. It was a hard one to make - it involved a sixteen-hour mental breakdown on a Sunday. But, boy oh boy, am I one happy person since that day. I’ve found my passions and I’m proud of how hard I’m working to make my life what it is.

SARAH
Tell us a bit about yourself, please?

i did gymnastics + dancing as a child - ever since then, i’ve had a passion for fitness. i specialise in pilates, which is my favourite way to workout (especially if my motivation levels are low). when i’m not doing it myself, i’m teaching it, which is so rewarding + i couldn’t think of anything better then being able to teach and give other people a chance to enjoy themselves while they work out.

Best tip for new comers?

SOPHIE
Tell us a bit about yourself, please?

I am a tea loving, foodie snob student currently studying law and working in a property law firm. When I'm not working or studying, I love to de-stress by getting out and active with other people, particularly if it involves a good boogie. I've had my fair share of struggles with mental health and I've only just started to realise how important it is to put yourself first, because when you do, life only gets better.

What is your favourite class to attend?

Barre Cardio or a good old Classic.

What do you love most about what you do?

I think, in itself, I like the actual fact that I "love what I do". Often it's so hard to find things that you love doing, but when you do, it’s an amazing feeling.

Best tip for new comers?

Don't be afraid that you'll look like an idiot, no one is looking at you, they are all focusing on how much pain they're in themselves.

What makes you happy?

Literally just food, friends, being active and traveling. Combine them all and I've achieved my dream in life.

Hiking to the peak of a snowy mountain in Japan. No amount of squats, plies or lunges can prepare you for that sort of leg workout.
